Who We Are

The Housing Law Center ("HLC") is a part of Rhode Island Legal Services. At the HLC, we have two primary projects: (i) foreclosure prevention; and (ii) housing stability. At the HLC, our efforts focus on:

• Stopping foreclosures;
• Defending post-foreclosure evictions;
• Defending evictions from subsidized housing;
• Assisting with 'housing readiness,' which includes identifying and addressing barriers to safe and affordable housing;
• Participation in administrative hearings related to subsidized housing; and
• Providing education and outreach to tenant associations or community organizations.

Our help can range from quick advice to full representation. And because not everyone will be eligible for our services, we attempt to provide referrals when necessary so that every Rhode Islander has somewhere to turn.
